Motor Vehicle Collision - Church Hill Road, Chestertown

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

On Friday, September 28, 2018, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched as Automatic Aid to Church Hill VFC (Queen Annes County) for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries, Maryland 213 & Maryland 544.

The incident was typical of MVC's, with all the activities inherent to handling calls of this nature. What made this call exceptional? The patient in one of the vehicles had a Service Dog. While the patient was transported to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown for evaluation and treatment, Always ready to step up and help, Chestertown personnel placed this service animal in our Command unit and made the transport to the hospital. Until the patient was released, our personnel remained with the animal, whom we're sure was confused and probably even a little frightened.

We're delighted to report patient and service dog were happily reunited.
