On Sunday, October 15, 2018 at 10:05 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for the Commercial Building Fire at Creafill Fibers, 10200 Worton Road. The caller was reporting fire in the roof. Units arrived at location with a smoke haze in the building.

With the arrival of Chestertown VFC Tower 6 and Galena VFC Tower 3, personnel were placed on the roof in order to assess the situation. It was determined the most expedient plan to access the smoldering area was to open the ceiling from inside. With some effort, firefighters were able to pull open the metal ceiling and douse the smoldering embers. An engine from Sudlersville VFC was placed in the Chestertown Fire Station as a fill-in.
