On Sunday, March 24, 2019, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies Rock Hall VFC and Kennedyville VFC, was dispatched for Small Structure Fire, reported as a Detached Garage. The 9-1-1 Caller was reporting fire and smoke.
The first equipment, Chestertown's Engine 68, arrived to find a small fire which had started on the exterior of the structure. Although it appears the fire started on the inside, the point of origin was actually confirmed as exterior. The homeowner had extinguished the bulk of the fire prior to our arrival. Crews from Chestertown VFC "Checked for Extension", which means ensuring the fire has not spread unseen beyond what is immediately visible, and completed overhaul. Overhaul is the process of ensuring the fire is completely out.
There were no injuries to civilians or emergency personnel. Crews operated at this incident for just over an hour.
