Motor Vehicle Collision - Melitota Road, Chestertown

At 7:19 pm on Friday, November 1, 2019, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad and Kent County EMS was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision involving a Bicycle on Melitota Road between Flatland Road (Maryland 514) and Fairlee Road (Maryland 298). Units arrived to find a multi-vehicle collision involving two vehicles and a bicyclist. A patient was found on the edge of the road lying in a ditch.

To ensure scene safety and faciltate the accident investigation, traffic in both directions was immediately stopped and the road temporarily closed. The patient was subsequently packaged and transported by Maryland State Police Aviation to a trauma center in Baltimore, Maryland. The condition of the patient is not known at this time.

When the investigation was completed, Chestertown VFC personnel cleaned glass and debris from the road using brooms and small-engine leaf blowers. Upon completion of this step, the road was reopened. We operated at this incident for about 90 minutes.

There were no injuries to emergency personnel.
