On Thursday, January 30, 2020, at approximately 12:59 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries in the 26700 block of Big Woods Road. This location is in Big Woods, between Kennedyville and Lynch. We were dispatched on the assignment as Automatic Mutual Aid to the Kennedyville VFC. Queen Annes County Engine 55 (Church Hill) was in Chestertown training. They were added to the incident and also responded to the scene.
Kent County EMS and the Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad were already on the scene when we arrived. Upon their arrival, they found one patient in Cardiac Arrest. They had already loaded the patient in the ambulance where resuscitation efforts were underway.
The crew from our unit, Rescue 6, checked the vehicle and the house for hazards. As there was structural damage to the house, the county building inspector was requested. Responsibility for the crash scene was turned over to the Kennedyville VFC.
The patient was transported to the University of Maryland / Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. The condition of the patient is not known at the time of this release. The crash is being investigated by the Kent County Sheriffs Office.
We operated at this incident for 57 minutes.
