Motor Vehicle Collision - Morgnec Road, Chestertown

On Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 8:41 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kennedyville VFC and Kent County EMS was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Unknown Injuries on Morgnec Road (Maryland 291) near Maiden Lot Farm Lane. The actual location was confirmed on Morgnec Road in front of Crimson Stables.

Units arrived to find a single vehicle which had left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. As a result of the crash, the utility pole was completely severed, but there were no wires down. The utility pole dropped straight down, but remained upright. The vehicle subsequently reentered the roadway and overturned, eventually landing back on it's wheels. During the crash, the lone occupant / driver was ejected from the vehicle. After evaluation by EMS personnel, the patient was declared deceased.

As a result of this crash, Morgnec Road was completely closed for several hours. The Maryland Department of Transportation / State Highway Administration responded and set-up a detour around the incident. Chestertown VFC & Rescue Squad personnel remained at the crash scene while the Maryland State Police performed a Crash Reconstruction Investigation.
