With deep sadness, the Chestertown VFC announces the passing of member Michael O. (Mike) Standridge. Mike was from Rock Hall and belonged to the Rock Hall VFC. After he graduated from Kent County High School, he worked at Dixon Valve here in Chestertown. With his devotion and desire to give back to the community, he then joined the Chestertown VFC.
As Dixon Valve allowed their employees to leave for emergency calls, Mike was one of our top day-time responders. Historically, week day, day-time incidents are ones where our staffing can be notoriously thin. Many times, his presence helped support our efficient and effective response to emergencies.
After Mike retired from Dixon Valve, he and his wife, Angel relocated to Arkansas "where he enjoyed fishing, watching and visiting football games, especially the Baltimore Ravens, gardening, playing video games with his niece and nephew and visiting the oil fields."
He will be greatly missed!
The family has suggested memorial donations to the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company or the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company. The mailing address for the Chestertown VFC is...
