At approximately 6:51 pm on Sunday, September 26, 2021, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, and Kent County EMS, along with multiple mutual aid companies, was dispatched for the “Motor Vehicle Crash – High Mechanism – Rollover” in the 27600 block of Morgnec Road (Maryland 291) near Morgnec Cut-Off Road. A 9-1-1 caller was reporting multiple patients.

First arriving was a deputy with the Kent County Sheriffs Office, nearby on routine patrol… confirming seven (7) total patients to be evaluated. First arriving Fire & EMS found a two-vehicle crash, with one of the vehicles overturned. All patients in both vehicles had self-extricated from their respective vehicles.

As firefighters checked the vehicles and mitigated hazards, EMS personnel was evaluating & treating the patients. One (1) adult male patient was transported to the University of Maryland, Shore Medical Center at Chestertown for evaluation. One (1) adult female, along with three (3) pediatric patients (gender not shared) were transported by ground to the A.I. Dupont / Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware for evaluation. For all patients transported, none of the injuries were considered serious. A.I. Dupont / Nemours is a specialty center for pediatric patients. Two other adult patients (gender not shared) refused medical treatment at the crash scene.

Morgnec Road (Maryland 291) was closed for a short period of time while the crash was investigated, the vehicles removed and the roadway cleared of debris.
