Friday, December 10, 2021

At 7:33 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Chestertown VFC, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kent County EMS, and multiple mutual aid companies was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Entrapment and Fire, at Quaker Neck Road and Quaker Neck Landing Road. The actual location proved to be on Quaker Neck Landing Road approximately one-quarter mile in off Quaker Neck Road.

First arriving found a single vehicle collision vs. a tree with the car 100% involved with fire. Using dry vegetation that was exposed, the fire was slowly spreading into the adjacent woods. Fortunately, the lone occupant / driver of the vehicle had self-extricated prior to it catching on fire. This individual was denying injury and was not transported by EMS.

With the arrival of our engine, the fire was promptly extinguished with the deployment of an 1-3/4” hose line. The response assignment was held to Chestertown VFC units, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, and Kent County EMS. All other Fire & EMS resources were canceled.

The crash investigation is being handled by the Maryland State Police.
