On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 6:59 am, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple other “first due” companies, was dispatched to the 9800 block of Worton Road (Maryland 297) for the Motor Vehicle Crash – High Mechanism. The incident was located between Augustine Herman Highway (Maryland 213) and Mary Morris Road, near the S-Bend.

First arriving, a paramedic with Kent County EMS, found a single vehicle had exited the roadway, overturning multiple times. The lone occupant / driver had been ejected during the crash and was deceased. Most of the companies dispatched were placed in service and sent back. The Chestertown VFC, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kent County EMS operated at the crash scene.

The crash scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for investigation, and they were assisted by the Kent County Sheriffs Office. Before returning, Chestertown VFC personnel assessed the vehicle and engaged in associated hazard mitigation.
