On Sunday, October 8, 2023, at approximately 5:35 am, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched as mutual aid to the Rock Hall VFC for the structure fire on Circle Park Drive in Rock Hall. This is a manufactured home community off Boundary Avenue – Rock Hall.
First arriving from Rock Hall VFC found heavy smoke emanating from a manufactured home. The initial engine crew from Rock Hall mounted a magnificent, aggressive, interior fire attack, quickly gaining control of the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire. Tragically, two family pets perished as a result of this fire.
Given the time of day, equipment from the Chestertown VFC hit the street in a timely manner and made the run to Rock Hall. As previously stated, by the time we arrived, the fire had been “knocked down”, meaning Rock Hall VFC personnel had the fire darkened down... and that by some time. Our crews supported the efforts of the Rock Hall VFC.
