As Kent County does not have a dive team, we reached out to the New Cast County (Delaware) Dive Team. They graciously, and eagerly, agreed to make the journey across the state line to help. During the air show, in addition to fire suppression units from Chestertown VFC (Rescue-Engine, Brush Truck, and Utility), the Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad provided an ambulance, and their Marine unit… Boat 8. A shout out to Kent County EMS, which provided a unit for ALS (Advanced Life Support… a.k.a. Paramedic). As previously mentioned, the New Castle County Dive Team was on hand in case an aircraft went down in Fairlee Creek. Their operation was based around a Dive Unit with the Townsend Fire Company. For this operation their divers used Boat 8. During the Air Show, the divers were suited up, ready to go at a moment’s noticed. It takes a diver some time to get suited and geared up. If an aircraft went down in the water, that’s time the pilot does not have. Thankfully, there were no incidents. Again, a huge shout out to the New Castle County Dive Team for helping us out. (Additional note: On Sunday... Dive Team members from Mill Creek Fire Company accompanied those from Townsend Fire Company, to supplement the contingent of available Dive Team members. Our appreciation to those as dive members as well.
