On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company held our annual “Fireman’s Picnic” at the fire station. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, along with all sorts of picnic type fare was available for the enjoyment of our members and guests. Old photographs and albums from years gone by were brought out for the purpose of reminiscing and telling stories. The “Friends of Engine 64”, a private 501c3 group that is restoring Engine 64 (as far as is practicable) made her available for rides, and for members to talk about her. Engine 64 was custom built for the Chestertown VFC, serving with distinction from 1983 – 2010.
We would be remiss if we didn’t reach out to businesses, etc. that helped make this event possible, and extend our appreciation to them…
“Lockbriar & Daughter ice cream” – Provided the Ice Cream
Clark’s Seafood – Provided Crabs & Shrimp
Shore Party Rentals – Provided Inflatable Bounce Houses & Axe Throwing attraction
We'd also like to express our appreciation to Molly's Sporting Goods, Riley's Mill Ale Works, and Domino's Pizza, all of whom donated some of their products to be offered as door prizes.
We’d also like to recognize the Church Hill VFC for standing by for us, available for the more ordinary calls we handle, so our members could relax and enjoy. As always, if there had been a serious incident, our members would have also “saddled up” and responded. That’s the Spirit of Volunteerism!
