Lout Out Training

Saturday, October 3, 2026
On Monday, September 28, 2026, members gathered at the station for our bi-monthly (2nd & 4th Monday) company training. The topic was “Pop the Lock”.
Using an acquired car (which will later be utilized for auto extrication and rescue training), members practiced using lock smithing tools to enter a locked vehicle. Not all lockouts constitute an emergency. In that instance... children and / or animals and / or an incapacitated adult, we would take the window(s) out in a second. One possible scenario could be a public service for “keys locked in the vehicle”. Law enforcement tends to shy away from “lock outs”, instead referring the call for service to a commercial locksmith.
However, occasionally a locksmith may not be immediately available, or even completely unavailable. In these instances, we might be available to assist. These procedures and techniques tend to be challenging. That’s why we occasionally practice on acquired vehicles. We would never use someone’s personal ride, as these lock smithing methods occasionally cause damage to car doors.
