With deep, abiding sadness, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company regretfully announces the passing of Life Member Robert Knoedler. Of all our members, as a member of our “Fire Police” unit, Robert is one many in the public might recognize. Prior to a decline in health, he was frequently seen working traffic flow around our emergency incidents.
Robert joined the Chestertown VFC in 1990, along with his spouse, Margaret. Robert was retired from the Campbell Soup Company and was assigned to that company’s facility when it was located on Maryland 291 / Morgnec Road, just East of Chestertown.
Robert was dedicated to the mission of the Chestertown VFC and was a frequent monthly top responder to emergency incidents. As Fire Police, Robert frequently stepped in to help the Chestertown Police Department with traffic control during community events… especially for the annual Chestertown Tea Party Parade, Memorial Day Parade, the Halloween Parade, and other community events where there was an impact on traffic.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
