On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 3:17 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, was dispatched to Worton Creek Marina, which is at the end of Buck Neck Road, for the Service Call. The hydraulics on a yard crane had failed, stranding a marina worker, performing high work on a sailboat mast, some fifty feet in the air. He was rigged into a device commonly called a “Bosun’s Seat or Chair” in the marine industry. Efforts by other marina personnel to bring the subject down had not been successful. The individual was not injured or in distress, just requiring assistance getting back to Terra Firma. In some places, this might qualify as a “High Angle Rescue”.
Our Tower 6 made the response, was set-up, and made a safe, efficient “rescue”. The individual was no worse the wear.
