On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 6:54 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with the Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, and Kent County EMS, was dispatched to the Motor Vehicle Crash, Unknown on Injury… High Street Extended (Maryland 20) just south of Flatland Road (Maryland 514). First arriving, a deputy with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, found a passenger car off the road, deep into a ditch, entangled in scrub. The single occupant / driver (female) was alert and oriented, seemingly uninjured. However, because of the vehicle’s situation, she was not able to exit the vehicle.
Upon arrival of our Rescue-Engine 6, members stabilized the vehicle, then used Hurst hydraulic rescue tools to open a path, enabling the driver to be safely accessed and removed from the car. The patient was subsequently transported by EMS to the University of Maryland, Shore Medical Center at Chestertown for evaluation.
