On Tuesday, May 26, just after 11:00 a.m., the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a vehicle fire in front of Sherwin-Williams, located in the Washington Square parking lot.
While Rescue Engine 6 was responding, Kent 9-1-1 advised they had received several calls reporting a pickup truck on fire with no exposures.
Rescue Engine 6 arrived to find fire showing from the engine compartment of a single cab pickup truck. Crews deployed the front bumper line and quickly extinguished the fire.
After the fire was brought under control, crews used absorbent pads to help contain and soak up leaking vehicle fluids. This helps prevent hazardous runoff from entering nearby storm drains and protects the surrounding environment.
The Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was assisted on the scene by the Chestertown Police Department and Chestertown VFC Fire Police.
