On Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 6:41 am, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple other companies, was dispatched as mutual aid to the Betterton VFC, for the structure fire at 28840 Montabello Lake Road. This is located in Smithville, near the intersection of Smithville Road and Montabello Lake Road. 9-1-1 caller was reporting a fire in the laundry room.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at 11:20 am, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple other first due companies, including the Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad and Kent County EMS, was dispatched to the 800 block of High Street, near Lewes Dairy and the former Subway location, for the Serious Motor Vehicle Crash with Injuries. Information provided to first responders reported at least one patient unconscious. First arriving found a two-vehicle T-Bone type crash, with two patients, one of whom was trapped in their vehicle. The other vehicle had gone off the street and struck a nearby house, causing serious structural damage. There was also a negligible amount of fuel spilled from one vehicle, which had entered a storm drain.

The Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company received the honor of escorting Mr. & Mrs. Kris Kringle to Chestertown Friday evening, November 25, 2022. Before departing the fire station for the parade marshaling location on Dixon Drive, the Kringles posed with those members on hand. The members you see in this photograph are the members riding the equipment through the parade. In the parade, Santa and his Mrs. rode in the basket of our tower, where everyone could see them! Christmas in Chestertown is officially underway. ??

Our “Inside the Fire Station – Member Spotlight” profile for November is Ms. Susan Joyner. Susan joined the Chestertown VFC in 1994 and was awarded Life Membership in 2018. In addition to her participation as a regular member, she is also a member of the fire company Auxiliary.
