Jeffrey H. Thompson was selected as our “Member Spotlight” a few weeks ago. Jeff, as he is widely known, has a long and distinguished career with the Chestertown VFC and the fire service in general. That career is still going strong and vibrant.

Passing of Member Michael Standrige

With deep sadness, the Chestertown VFC announces the passing of member Michael O. (Mike) Standridge. Mike was from Rock Hall and belonged to the Rock Hall VFC. After he graduated from Kent County High School, he worked at Dixon Valve here in Chestertown. With his devotion and desire to give back to the community, he then joined the Chestertown VFC.

At our regular meeting on Monday, June 1, 2020, we selected “Life Member” Harry C. Everett for the “Inside the Fire Station – Member Spotlight” to profile this week. Most people may not know him by his given name, but they probably do know him as “Sonny”. Still? Others may know him, but not know his name. However you may know Sonny, he is easily recognizable as a mainstay of our community. For as long as this writer can remember, he has been popular with everyone he meets.

In order to maintain a high state of equipment readiness and dependability, the Chestertown VFC maintains an aggressive maintenance and testing program on our equipment. While each piece of equipment is regularly inspected by our personnel, we also adhere to the recommendations of the National Fire Protection Association - Pamphlet 1911, the standard for the "Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles."

Passing of Life Member Theodore

With deep, abiding sadness, the Chestertown VFC announces the passing of Theodore "Ted" Landskroener. Mr. Ted was a Life Member of long-standing, going back to the 1960's. He served a number of terms on our Board of Directors. Some of those terms included milestones such as new apparatus purchases.

Passing of member Tommy Lynch

It is with great sadness the Chestertown VFC announces the passing of W. Thomas (Tommy) Lynch. Tommy joined us in 1960 as a Junior member at the age of 16. While he held no elected administrative positions with the fire company, he progressed through the Active Firefighter ranks, achieving the high rank of Assistant Chief. According to his family, Tommy was devoted to the firefighting side of our mission and enjoyed the companionship, comradeship and esprit de corps found among firefighters.

Motor Vehicle Collision - Morgnec Road, Chestertown

On Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 8:41 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kennedyville VFC and Kent County EMS was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Unknown Injuries on Morgnec Road (Maryland 291) near Maiden Lot Farm Lane. The actual location was confirmed on Morgnec Road in front of Crimson Stables.
