On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 6:59 am, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple other “first due” companies, was dispatched to the 9800 block of Worton Road (Maryland 297) for the Motor Vehicle Crash – High Mechanism. The incident was located between Augustine Herman Highway (Maryland 213) and Mary Morris Road, near the S-Bend.

In 2021, the Chestertown VFC responded to 577 calls for service with 664 individual unit responses. While we responded to 577 calls, not every call is a ‘Fire.’ We respond to a wide range of emergencies including motor vehicle collisions, unintentional fire alarm activations, and wires down, and yes, we respond to the occasional cat stuck in a tree. We are a 100% volunteer staffed department and our dedicated members spent countless hours of training to ensure your safety and provide the highest level of care and skill in any emergency situation to the citizens of our community. We have made it our duty to provide service for others and to act in the most professional way possible. With that, we hope for another successful year, and we thank you, our community members, for your continued support.

Motor Vehicle Collision - Chestertown Road, Chestertown

At approximately 10:50 am on Friday, December 24, 2021, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kent County EMS, along with other mutual aid companies (see below) were dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision – High Velocity to the 24400 block of Chestertown Road (Maryland 20), which is located near Bell Rose Lane / Earl Nicholson Road. First arriving found a single vehicle crash into a tree with two patients, one of whom was pinned behind the steering wheel. Both patients were conscious and talking, with the second patient self-extricated.

First arriving found a male patient entangled in a press machine

At 7:33 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Chestertown VFC, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad, Kent County EMS, and multiple mutual aid companies was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Entrapment and Fire, at Quaker Neck Road and Quaker Neck Landing Road. The actual location proved to be on Quaker Neck Landing Road approximately one-quarter mile in off Quaker Neck Road.

First arriving found a two-vehicle, head-on type collision with two patients.

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 7:59 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched into Queen Annes County as mutual aid to the 6300 block of Church Hill Road, near Milano’s Pizza, for the Motor Vehicle Collision with Injury. First arriving found a 3-vehicle crash with three (3) patients. One (1) patient was heavily trapped in their vehicle.
