As part of our long-range plan to improve overall service to our community, the Chestertown VFC has made a rather large change. The decision was made to sell Engine 67, one of our Class A pumpers, and eventually replace it with a Rescue-Engine. There is an apparatus committee currently working on the specifications for the new unit. Along with a crew, a Class A pumper carries a pump, water, hose, and a complement of hand tools, and is considered the basic piece of firefighting equipment in any company’s firefighting toolbox.

Earlier this year, our “Member Spotlight – Inside the Fire Station” selectee was Robert Knoedler. Along with his wife Margaret, Robert joined the fire company in 1990. Of all our members, as a member of our “Fire Police” unit, Robert is one many in the public might recognize. Prior to a decline in health, he was frequently seen working traffic flow around our emergency incidents.
